The plantation chair — the planter's chair of the Malabar coast — was built for long, humid afternoons. It sits low and deep, with a raked back and hand-woven cane that lets air move through the chair rather than around it. It is one of the few genuinely Indian contributions to the canon of colonial furniture, and in most Kerala houses it is still the chair everyone actually wants to sit in.

Ours is made in solid teak in Temple Town's own workshop in Thrissur, with cane woven by hand. At 116cm deep it keeps the generous recline the form is known for. Like everything we make, it is built to be repaired rather than replaced — the cane can be rewoven and the teak refinished for as long as the chair stays in the family.

What is covered under this warranty?

This product comes with a 1 year warranty which covers manufacturing defects, inherent termite and borer issues.

What is not covered under this warranty?

This limited warranty does not apply to:

• Normal wear and tear
• Cuts or scratches, or damage caused by impacts or accidents
• Products that have been stored, assembled or installed incorrectly, used inappropriately, or cleaned using the wrong cleaning methods or cleaning products.
• Natural Warping and Wefting of wood.
