Temple Town is a studio of architects, interior designers and furniture makers in Thrissur, the cultural capital of Kerala.

We make furniture by hand in our own workshop, in responsibly sourced and recycled Indian teak, and we design the homes it lives in.

Meera Pyarelal's father is a Padma Shri–honoured surgeon, and many expected her to follow him into medicine. She took a Master’s in English Literature instead, and found that her gift for storytelling suited interiors. Over 25 years ago she started a small atelier in her husband’s garage.

Today Temple Town works to keep traditional Indian craftsmanship alive. Its Indo-European Classical pieces are drawn from antiques, reimagined for modern homes, and rooted in Kerala’s own tradition of fine furniture.

Our journey so far

1999

The Beginning

Meera Pyarelal founds Temple Town in Thrissur, starting from her husband’s garage with furniture inspired by antique originals and made by hand in solid teak.

2020

National Recognition

Temple Town’s homes and furniture are featured by Architectural Digest India, India Today Home and The Design Collective.

2022

The Joy Alukkas Residence

The studio’s Kochi residence for the Joy Alukkas family is published by Elle Decor India.

2023

The Nalukettu

A new house built on the traditional Nalukettu plan of Kerala is featured by STIR World.

2024

The Kochi Flagship

Temple Town opens its 8,000 sq ft flagship in Kochi, inside the Museum of Kerala History at Edappally.
