Architecture

Temple Town designs homes from the ground up. Our architects, interior designers and furniture makers work under one roof in Thrissur, so the building, the rooms and the furniture inside them are conceived together and delivered by one team.

One studio, from site plan to final snag

Most homes pass through several hands: an architect, an interior designer, a contractor, a furniture shop. Each handover loses something. At Temple Town the same studio carries a project from the first site discussion to the day you move in, and the furniture is made in our own workshop by in-house master artisans.

How an architecture project runs

  1. Project initiation: understanding the site, the brief and how you live.
  2. Architectural design and planning: the building, its spaces and how they connect.
  3. Interior detailing: rooms resolved down to joinery, finishes and lighting.
  4. MEP drawings: mechanical, electrical and plumbing services coordinated with the architecture from the start.
  5. Interior design: materials, colours, textures and furnishings.
  6. Furniture production: pieces designed for the house and handcrafted in our workshop.
  7. Decorative detailing: art, objects and the finishing layer.
  8. On-site installation and final snag work.
  9. Final documentation: handed over with the finished home.

Rooted in Kerala's building traditions

Our architecture draws on Kerala's own forms: courtyards, deep verandas, timber and tile. A Temple Town house built on the traditional Nalukettu plan has been featured by STIR World, and the studio's work has appeared in Architectural Digest India, Elle Decor India and other leading design publications. See our press coverage and the thinking behind it in Heirloom Modernism.

Where we work

We take on projects across India, mainly in South India. Our studio is in Thrissur, with showrooms in Thrissur and Kochi.
