That second number is the one that matters. At 45cm deep this cabinet runs two full metres along a wall without narrowing a corridor or crowding a room — which is precisely the problem most storage fails to solve.

It is the most useful piece in an Indian entrance hall: long enough to hold everything that accumulates at a front door, shallow enough that you can still walk past it carrying something.

Cane panels, and why

The doors carry hand-woven rattan cane rather than solid panels. Three reasons: cane keeps two metres of teak from reading as a wall, it lets air move through the cabinet — which matters if anything inside is textile — and it catches light rather than blocking it.

Solid Indian teak

Kiln-dried, responsibly sourced, with the carcass and doors in solid timber rather than veneered board. A two-metre span is where veneer gives itself away: it bows over time, and teak does not.
